HEALTH BOARD MOVE MUST NOT RESULT IN CUTS
Consultation on the new Health Board Boundaries is now under way, and Inverclyde MP David Cairns is demanding that there will be no further cuts to services when Inverclyde becomes the responsibility of Greater Glasgow Health Board next year. In his formal response to the consultation document, David cited the principles of the Kerr Report on the future of the NHS in Scotland, and he emphasised that he wants to see services kept as local as possible. SUPPORT FOR BREAST CANCER CAMPAIGN LEAVES DAVID 'IN THE PINK'
Inverclyde MP David Cairns was ‘in the pink’ when he arrived at Greenock’s Cancer Research shop to support Breast Cancer Campaign’s national fundraising day. David entered into spirit of the ‘wear it pink’ campaign by donning a bright pink tie for the day. Last year’s wear it pink day raised over £1.3 million1 for research into breast cancer and this year the charity is hoping to do even better.

DAVID PRESENTS LOCAL COMPANY WITH AWARD FOR FAIR TRADE
Local confectionery manufacturers, the Golden Casket Group, became the first company to be recognised for their contribution to fair trade in Inverclyde, when they were presented with the Inverclyde Business Fair Trade Champions’ Award, by MP David Cairns. David, who is campaigning to make Inverclyde a Fairtrade area, presented the award to Managing Director, Douglas Rae, in recognition of his company’s work with Traidcraft and their commitment to using ethical raw materials.
