Statement by David Cairns MP Concerning Closure of Ravenscraig Hospital
There is little point in my campaigning to stop the flow of drugs into Scotland if the Health Board pulls the rug from under my feet. In their consultation document they mention the problem of drugs only once, and in the part about closing Ravenscraig, drug treatment is not even mentioned at all – this is just staggering.

CAIRNS RAISES BAe FEARS WITH HOON
Greenock and Inverclyde MP David Cairns has raised concerns about the future of BAe Systems shipyards on the Clyde with Secretary of State for Defence Geoff Hoon MP. In the meeting which took place at the House of Commons on Tuesday 15th June, David told Mr Hoon that there was a great deal of uncertainty surrounding the future of the yards following the announcement of BAe Systems that they were seeking a buyer for their Marine Division.

David Cairns MP will today (9 June) tell the House of Commons about his fears for the future of key local health services if Argyll and Clyde Health Board press ahead with their plans to reduce services at Inverclyde Royal Hospital and close Ravenscraig Hospital.

CENTRE GIVES DAVID A TASTE OF INDEPENDENCE
Local MP, David Cairns, learned all about the help available to people who need assistance to live in the community, when he visited the newly opened Centre for Independent Living in Gibshill. The Centre provides a one stop shop for people who need adaptations to their house, occupational therapy or rehabilitation. Lead Scotland is also based there and they support adults with special learning needs.
