July 2008 4.7.2008 12:00 NEW LAWS TO HELP CREDIT UNIONS EXPAND UK Government plans making it simpler for Credits Unions like the Tail o’ the Bank and the Port Glasgow Credit Union to expand have been welcomed by Inverlcyde Labour MP, David Cairns. Under the new proposals local credit unions will find it easier to attract new members and they will also be able to offer more attractive rates to borrowers. And, for the first time ever, they will be able to pay interest to savers. 3.7.2008 08:37 LOCAL PROJECTS SET TO BENEFIT FROM £600,000 LOTTERY WINDFALL Inverclyde’s Labour MP David Cairns has given a warm welcome to the news that over £600,000 of Lottery funding is to be invested in two local projects. The money is split between Stepwell Consultancy Ltd and Inverclyde Council on Disability. The announcement follows the Big Lottery Fund’s decision to invest in developing innovative, health living projects that will improve the lives of people across Scotland. |
