January 2009 30.1.2009 13:49 80% OF INVERCLYDE’S BETTING SHOP WORKERS ABUSED LAST YEAR A survey of betting shops in Inverclyde by the Community Union has produced shocking findings. Four out of five employees suffered verbal abuse last year and a further one in five was the victim of physical abuse. And Children from low income families earning less than £15,750 per year get £500 to help them build up a nest egg for later in life. 12.1.2009 13:39 COLD WEATHER PAYMENT FOR MANY INVERCLYDE PENSIONERS Last week’s plummeting temperatures triggered a £25 Cold Weather Payment for 7,000 of Inverclyde’s most vulnerable pensioners. The Cold Weather Payment, which the UK Government has trebled from £8.50 to £25, is paid out whenever the average weekly temperature at the Bishopton weather station falls to 0C or below for seven consecutive days. |
