December 2005 30.12.2005 12:44 2006: INVERCLYDE’S YEAR FOR CHANGE Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to you all. 6.12.2005 11:07 CHRISTMAS CRACKDOWN ON DRINK DRIVERS BACKED BY MP On the week that the Government launches its Christmas campaign against drink driving, David Cairns MP is teaming up with local Traffic Inspector Paul Reilly, to urge drivers in Inverclyde not to put lives at risk during the festive season. It takes less than you think to become a drink driver and the consequences can be fatal. Every year in Inverclyde dozens of people are killed or seriously injured in car crashes, many of them as a result of drink driving. 2.12.2005 09:32 “CARERS SHOULD CLAIM THEIR RIGHTS,” URGES DAVID CAIRNS MP Staff and volunteers at the Inverclyde Carers’ Centre in Greenock were delighted when local MP, David Cairns, popped in to highlight Carers’ Rights Day on Friday 2nd December. The Cathcart Street centre held an open day to mark the event and they are keen to encourage carers and their families to approach them and find out what help is available locally. The Carers’ Centre can offer everything from information on your rights, to a quiet place to sit and talk if you have a problem. |
