September 2008
Constituency
During September I met with Stepwell Inn and the Principle of the James Watt College. I also met representatives from the Arts Guild to discuss funding and I attended their sponsored walk. I presented local schools with equipment from Tesco, gave out energy efficient light bulbs at Mecca Bingo and went along to a meeting of the Port Glasgow heritage group. Additionally, I spoke at Inverclyde Carers’ AGM and went along to the Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust awards for Inverclyde.
Scotland Office
I met with representatives from the Scottish Broadcasting Commission and attended a public service broadcasting meeting. I also visited Sullum Voe, Burradale Wind Farm, Eden Court Theatre and Glenmore Lodge. Other meetings included Highlands and Island Enterprise and Shetland Council.
Surgeries
This month I held several surgeries in the office and also ones in Wemyss Bay, Inverkip, Boglestone Community Centre and 7½ John Wood Street.
Westminster
I met with senior customs management in their London HQ to reiterate that the Greenock Custom House remain open. |
