November 2008

Constituency
Another busy month in the constituency. I met with Alzheimers Scotland, River Clyde Homes, attended the James Watt College graduation ceremony and went to the launch of the James Watt Dock redevelopment. I also attended the New Horizon Course graduations, met with the Chair of the Licensing Board about the safety of betting shop workers and went along to the Armistice Day Remembrance service in Gourock. Additionally, I visited St Patrick’s Primary School, Port Glasgow Secondary School and had a pupil from St Columba’s High School shadow me for a day.

Westminster
At Westminster I attended the Thales 120th anniversary dinner, went along to meet representatives from EDS and also spoke to British Waterways. I also gave evidence to the Calman Commission on devolution, Met Shimon Peres, and attended a briefing by BAA. Later in the month I met with the United Kingdom Major Ports Group, attended the all party media and communications group and met several media executives from various channels in preparation for the launch of the all party Scottish media group.

Surgeries
In November I had several surgeries in the Parliamentary Office and others in the Kilmacolm Community Centre, the Gamble Halls in Gourock and the Boglestone Community Centre in Port Glasgow.
