March 2009
Constituency
Another busy month in the constituency which involved visiting St Ninian’s Primary, Newark Primary, Inverclyde Academy and presenting Morrison’s gardening equipment to St Patrick’s Primary. Several local schools also came into the office to be presented with their prizes in the Big Ben Xmas Card Competition. I also met with Scottish Enterprise, visited Abbeyfield, volunteered at IBM’s Red Nose fundraising event and went along to the launch of the James Watt Stamp. Late in the month I hosted a visit by the Secretary of State for Scotland to IBM and Riverside Inverclyde.
Westminster
At Westminster this month I took part in the Nepal Debate and also spoke on the Draft Renewables Obligation Order. The Scottish Broadcasting Group met with a representative from Digital UK and several senior managers from STV and I attended events organised by the BBC, ITV and met the Head of BBC Scotland. Additionally, I had meetings with the Director of Public Policy at Amazon and met groups representing aviation, the Institute of Scottish Chartered Accountants and the Scottish Housing Association Federation.
Surgeries
During March I held surgeries in St Andrew’s Church Hall in Larkfield, Wellpark Mid Kirk, the Parliamentary Office, Boglestone Community Centre in Port Glasgow and Gourock Library.
