February 2010

Constituency
This month I went along to the Chamber of Commerce annual dinner, met union representatives from the Navy Buildings to update them on my meeting with the Minister and visited the James Watt College to meet students doing a voluntary project with the Princes Trust. When I went along to Glasgow Airport I met several apprentices from Inverclyde, I accepted an invitation to go along to Cappielow and I also attended a special celebratory Mass for Notre Dame High School. My interest in the media continues and I have arranged for a local independent producer to come to London to talk to the Scottish Media Group and I also spent a day at Channel 4 in Glasgow as part of my continuing media fellowship.

Parliament
During February I met the Royal British Legion, the British Retail Consortium and the Industry and Parliament Trust. I also talked to the STUC about digital Britain, had a meeting about free to air broadcasting and spoke on product placement at a Compass Debate. Later in the month I spoke to pupils from Port Glasgow High School who were down visiting Westminster, showed a number of constituents and their families around Parliament and met the Minister at the MOD to raise concerns about the Navy Buildings.

Surgeries
A very busy month for surgeries with ones in Inverkip Church Hall, Wemyss Bay Community Centre, the Parliamentary Office, Boglestone Community Centre, Fancy Farm Community Hall and Branchton Community Centre.
