April 2008
Constituency
In April I met with representatives of Clydeport in both my constituency office and in their Glasgow HQ. I also attended meetings with River Clyde Homes and with the Chairperson of Scottish Passenger Transport Executive. Later in the month I met with Inverclyde Leisure Trust to discuss the tax regime for leisure facilities, and I also met representatives from the Community Health Partnership. One of the highlights of the month, was when I presented the local museum with a portrait of one of my predecessors, Hector MacNeil.
Surgeries
April’s surgeries included two in the constituency office, and single surgeries in Gourock Library, Youth Connections in Larkfield, Craigend Resource Centre and one in Kilmacolm.
Scotland Office
Another busy month at the Scotland Office which included an Adjournment Debate on the Scotland Act, meetings with the First Minister and the Welsh Secretary and Scottish Questions, where I answered for the Government on a variety of issues including electricity generation, motorcycling and elections. I also met with the Network of International Development Organisations in Scotland, the Church of Scotland, Ofcom and various reps from regulatory and statutory bodies. In addition, I attended an exercise at Faslane and the Scotland Office also hosted receptions for community service volunteers and for the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
